Selflessness

So, if I refuse to allow Asher to eat junk food, but then I have chocolate chip cookies for lunch (Don't worry. I didn't just have cookies. I also had some cookie dough.), does that mean that I'm a hypocrite, or just that I selflessly value the health of my child far more than my own?

Definitely the latter. :)

HAHA! I want cookie dough for lunch, too! Actually, I planned a visiting teaching luncheon, but the girl I visit teach has a sick baby, so I'm having potato kale soup, with HOMEMADE garlic and rosemary cheese bread, and grapes and canteloupe. Without her:)

I think cookie dough is actually a fruit. HAHA Ok... maybe not, but I drink soda and eat french fries and when I am pregnant I will abstain from both. I think it's just actually caring that the burrito grow up strong... and figuring you can burn off the cookies by chasing the strong, healthy burrito. HAHA.

A little bit hypocritical. Why not just let the little dude have a bit of cookie dough too?

Think of cookies and chocolate as mature foods. It's healthy to keep your children away from things they won't know how to 'maturely' use/eat/handle/whatever. Now us adults, we've definitely learned to eat sweets maturely and responsible so its okay. LOL! Seriously, though, until they're 2 or 3, its better for the little burritos and burritas out there to be kept from a lot of 'junk' foods. It's just healthier until their immune and digestive systems are more developed.

I do this sort of thing ALL the time... but I think, hey, my nutrition is pretty much all about maintenance. I don't want Casey's whole body BUILT on junk food, but I'm okay with MAINTAINING mine on it. "Temporarily," of course.

caught you as I was blog stalking. Yes and no to your question. It depends on the child and how old they are. My kids cannot handle sugar in large quantities. We decided to let them spluge and have their own DQ cone with sprinkles. What did I get? A suger high that ended in a crash full of tears and arguing and for the next two days diharrea in the underwear. Yuck! So now I am back to making "healthy cookies" (they are good) and my own ice cream. It's alot of work but it does allow your kid to enjoy the sweet things in life without the nasty side effects.
