Vegetables

The other night I made broccoli with cheese sauce.  Hugh's mom has taught me how to make her cheese sauce several times, and it always turns out perfectly in her pot, on her stove top, with her watching over my shoulder as I stir, but for some reason, it has never seemed to work out quite right in my own kitchen.  But the other night it was perfect.  And it is so simple that I honestly have no idea how I've destroyed it so many times before.

At dinner time, I set the broccoli proudly on the table.  I thought it tasted divine.  Unfortunately, I was the only one.  (Although Hugh informed me the next morning that he also enjoyed it when he got home later that night.)  Simon refused to even touch it.  Asher put one little bite in his mouth, made a disgusted face, and spat it out on the table.  So much for my amazing success.

At least they fought over the green beans at lunch the next day.  I didn't get a single one.  But that's okay.  I ate broccoli.

My kids will only eat broccoli with cheese sauce. Congrats on mastering it! I bet your kids will eat it when they're bigger. Look at Hugh:)

I have found I have a knack for horrendously destroying even the simplest of recipies...my poor future husband. Your dishes always taste fantastic, I am sure this cheese and broccoli creation was equally delectable. Mmm..broccoli.
