Does "Spoonula" sound a little like "Dracula?" or is it just me?

I realized today how totally dependent I am on my wooden spoon.  I don't have any kind of electric mixing device because even though I received three handheld electric mixers for my wedding, I managed to burn the last one out years ago.   (What can I say?  I bake a lot of cookies.)  When my last electric mixer whirred to it's chocolate-chippy death, I decided not to replace it (because, you see, they all kept burning out) and I went out and bought myself a nice wooden spoon instead.

Since then, my wooden spoon and I have become very close.  We've mixed up all kinds of things together and that spoon has never failed me.  But this morning it went AWOL.  I dumped some butter and brown sugar into a bowl, all ready to make bran muffins for breakfast, but when I looked in the usual drawer, my wooden spoon wasn't there.  So I looked in all of my other drawers, and in my cupboards, and under the living room couch, but I couldn't find it anywhere.  So I mixed up my muffins with a medium-sized metal serving spoon.  Which was a low-level nightmare.  But the muffins were good--Hugh's mom's recipe.  (She can bake and pick out great ties.)

This afternoon, I went to Target and picked up a spare wooden spoon.  And a pink spoonula, just for good measure.  ('Cause who doesn't need a spoonula?)  (Actually, I just like to say "spoonula.")  But neither of those can ever truly replace my original wooden spoon, and when I find that spoon it will be just like the return of the Prodigal Son--except my new back-up wooden spoon probably won't be jealous when I slay the fatted calf.

Oh, where, oh, where has my little spoon gone? Oh, where, oh, where could it be? Asher probably put it somewhere, you know, to be helpful.

Your writing makes your blog a fun read! I was talking to someone the other day about how I'm trying to improve my writing skills. When asked why, seeing as I'm not in school, I answered that I wanted a better blog. I explained that my favorite blogs to read are my skilled-writing friends. Yours was one of them that I thought of as an example. Just thought I'd let you know. :)

Wow, I can't believe you make cookies by hand! My arm is tired just thinking about it! :)
