Bop-It

Do you remember Bop-It?  If I remember correctly, it was popular when I was in middle school.  I loved that game.   But my father did not.  About the time that I was going away to college, he declared that he had had enough of it and was going to throw it away.  (Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that's what happened to every toy or game we ever had that made noise.  My dad has a low noise tolerance level. :) )  In an act of pure philanthropic benevolence, I offered to take the game with me to BYU.  Since Hugh and I have been married, however, Bop-It  has mostly collected dust under the bed because Hugh isn't a big fan.  I'm pretty sure that this is because I'm a lot better at it than he is and he doesn't like losing.  (I would like to take this moment to point out that I have, on many occasions, played Scrabble with Hugh even though he always wins... okay, so I won once, but every other time we've played I've gotten clobbered... really.)
Now, however, after all this time, I have finally found somebody who shares my Bop-It joy.  That's right: the Burrito.  Asher loves to pull the game out and smack it so that it makes noise.  If I play, he giggles like crazy and he seems to like it better the longer the game goes on.  The other day, Asher and I had a Bop-It tournament.  I figured that to make it fair, we should each get three tries.  Asher's high score was 1.  Mine was 73.  However, Asher's high score was only one point away from his low score, whereas my low score was 59, so he won in the consistency category.
Ah, it's so fulfilling to be able to share in your hobbies with your children. :)

I have never heard of Bop-It, but I hope to witness a LIVE BOP-OFF between you and Asher sometime soon. I'd settle for video if I had to.

I totally love bop it. It recently resurfaced at my sister's house too. I love the encouraging comments when you finally mess up.... "do it the same...but, but, better." "You're out."
