A week ago, Asher suddenly started waving to people. This has added significantly to his cuteness factor as measured by the frequency of things like "oh, he's so cute!" falling spontaneously out of the mouths of all who see him.
Here is a picture of him acknowledging his subjects:

In other news, Asher has been eating solids for four months now, and we finally got him a highchair this weekend. This means that we can put him in the chair, put food on the tray, and let him go crazy. Last night we gave him some shredded cheese, which is the messiest thing he's eaten so far, but unfortunately we didn't have the foresight to capture the moment on film, so you'll have to make do with these pictures of him eating a teething biscuit. (It makes me feel like a better mommy if I think of them as "biscuits" and not "cookies.")
Besides waving and scarfing down as many finger foods as I let him get his hands on, Asher's main accomplishment recently is figuring out how to get into everything. He now knows how to open and close doors, cupboards, and drawers, which gives him access to just about all of the dangerous and messy things that were previously out of his grasp.
Unfortunately, these new skills led to his first injury-induced band-aid. He managed to pull a small bowl out of the cupboard and drop it on his foot just right so that the rim cut his toe.
Maybe our next baby gear investment will be cupboard and drawer locks....

OH! I know I've told you a hundred times and you probably hear this from everyone you meet...but at the risk of sounding repetitive, I, as his unofficial favorite aunt in Alabama say:
HE'S JUST SO CUTE! :D
I am a huge fan of pressure-mounted gates to keep kids in or out of rooms. They worked pretty well, even on our monkey children, until they got big enough to push the gates over and/or climb over the gates.
I see much cuteness and little drooling:)
Good luck! He's a cutie!
