Sippy Cups

A few months ago, I bought Asher a sippy cup.  I often fill it with water and let him hold onto it.  Even when I first bought the cup, Asher could hold it really well because it has great little handles, and he seems to really love putting the spout in his mouth to chew on it.  Occasionally he even manages to sip a few drops of the water.
Because Asher didn't ever get much water out of the cup, I assumed that he didn't quite have the hang of it yet, but I wasn't concerned about it because he's still nursing a lot and seems to be very well hydrated.  I figured that if I just kept letting him mess with the cup, he'd get it down eventually.
A couple of days ago, I decided to put a little bit of juice in the cup.  (In case you were concerned, it was 100% juice.  I'm morally opposed to buying or drinking fake juice.  My reasoning is, if you're going to consume artificial sugars, don't waste them on something you don't even get to chew.)  I thought that even if he didn't get very much, he would like whatever he got.  It took him 30 minutes, in between chomping on a teething biscuit, to drink the two ounces of juice.  Turns out Asher knew exactly how his cup worked.  He just wasn't interested in the boring water.

Ah, what a cute little guy. Alena is a milk girl. She even spits out juice when we try to give it to her.

What a well worded fake juice philosophy! I might steal it from you.
