The Sunshine State

This year for Thanksgiving, we flew to southern California for five days.  I have to admit that as we were packing I was having second thoughts about the whole trip.  Traveling with a burrito is so much more complicated than traveling without one and I just kept thinking about what a mess we were going to make of Asher's schedule, and how fussy he was going to be on the plane, and how we were going to lug a huge diaper bag everywhere we went.  But, we went, and it turned out to be a fabulous vacation.
Day 1:
Hang out with family, go to the beach, and eat Hugh's mom's delicious food.
Day 2:
Sleep in, go to the biggest ocean aquarium in the country with Hugh's parents, and see Wicked. (Hugh being eaten by a lorikeet)
(Wicked got out after 11:00... which suddenly became late for us a few months ago.)
Days 3 and 4:
Drive out to see more family, including Asher's great-grandparents whom he hadn't met before, and sleep in some more.
(This was our rental car.  We figured that we'd never have a car this cool again, so we let Asher drive for a bit.)
Day 5:
Go to the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park.  (The savage burrito in his natural habitat)
(Asher's favorite animal was Dad.)
So, there you have it: one of the greatest vacations ever.  And Asher's sleeping schedule seems to have survived, and I don't even seem to have any permanent back damage from the diaper bag. :)

That sounds like good news to me. It seems all I hear are complaints about traveling with kids. It's nice to hear that it can be done!

Have to admit, the pictures on the beach made me a bit jealous. It looks so pretty!

It looks as though it was warmer than we thought it'd be...since you could play in the water. :)
