Housewifery

I was very sad when we moved from our cute little newlywed apartment to our current abode. I loved our old apartment.  Besides looking very nice, it had things like a dishwasher, a garbage disposal, and a lack of ant infestation.  However, it was very small, and we thought that we would want more space with a burrito.  One of the things about our new apartment that was supposed to be really great was the jetted bathtub.  This was a bigger deal to Hugh that to me because I am generally more of a shower person anyway, but if you can have a jetted tub, then you might as well, right?
Unfortunately, the tub has ended up giving me a lot more pain than pleasure.  The jets, which I never use because they are very loud, (And when on earth would I have the leisure to take a bath except when Asher is sleeping?) harbor a lot of nasty orange gunk.  Even when I try to take a bath without the jets on, the water in the tub dislodges a lot of the gunk, which then floats around in my bath water.  (Let me tell you how clean taking a bath in water full of nasty orange floaties of unknown antiquity leaves you feeling....)
Of course, I scrub the jets every week when I scrub the rest of the tub, but somehow there is always more gunk hiding deeper within the jet recesses.  Today, I decided that I had had enough.  I spent a disproportionate amount of my precious Burrito nap time scrubbing out the jets first with a toothbrush and then with q-tips.  Really.  So, maybe next time I decide to take a soak I won't have lots of little orange friends in the tub with me... or maybe I'll just shower instead.
Oh, uh... P.S. Hugh, I wouldn't use your yellow toothbrush if I were you.

Down with orange gunk! And don't worry about the toothbrush - Hugh probably didn't use it anyway:)

Here is an easy way to get rid of the gunk.

Fill the tub with warm water and add bleach. Run the jets for 10 to 15 minutes. do that like 1 to 2 times a month.

The bleach will kill the bacteria/gunk.

I have this Whirlpool Tub

Could imagine having to clean my tub?

I have zero problems with gunk building up in my tub due to the bleach and warm water.
